Chapter One: Extra Senses
Melody had a profound Realm-2 experience. It changed her life. In this experience she became aware of a deep reality that underpinned her normal consciousness. Full of excitement, she shared this experience with her father, Dave. Dave heard her account, and then replied curtly, "Your mind's playing tricks on you." Melody was crushed. All her life she had seen her father as a spiritual guide. He had practiced yoga and meditation. He read the Bible, he had a collection of books on mysticism and spiritual teachings, and yet when she shared with him the most real spiritual experience of her life, he dismissed it. It was irrelevant. It was "her mind playing tricks".
Realm-2 is an experience. It is found within consciousness, not within a book. In fact, reading books may deflect a person from the actual experience.
There is a happy ending to this story. Many years later Dave confessed to his daughter, "I think you have had an experience in this life that I haven't..." Dave by this stage was in his eighties, and confronting his certain mortality. There is no doubt that the approach of death has a very focused and clarifying effect on our thinking...
Realm-1 is the realm of the five senses. Realm-2 is the domain of extra senses. These new sense organs are not physical (then they would be Realm-1 senses), they develop within consciousness. There are Realm-2 versions of hearing and seeing, even of smell.
