18 “And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: ‘The words of the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and whose feet are like burnished bronze. 19 ‘I know your works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first. 20 But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. 21 I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. 22 Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works, 23 and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works. 24 But to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan, to you I say, I do not lay upon you any other burden; only hold fast what you have until I come. He who conquers and who keeps my words until the end, I will give him power over the nations, and he shall rule them with a rod of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, even as I have received power from my Fahter; and I will give him the morning star. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Rev 2:18-24
The aspect of the I AM which addresses the church in Thyatira has “eyes like a flame of fire.” This is the aspect of the divine which works through the organ of spiritual vision, the brow centre.
Spiritual vision, clairvoyance should be at the service of our individuality. It is the result firstly, of the emanation of love from the heart centre, and then the laying down of personal will in faith and service to the divine at the will centre.
Just as with the other centres, there is an intruder, an occupying force. John calls this force, Jezebel. John knew that his Jewish readers would know that Jezebel is an Old Testament queen, the wife of King Ahab, who pressured her husband to have the Israelites take up the worship of Baal. Baal was the god of weather and fertility in Canaan, and also associated with Astarte, the goddess of love and sexuality. The brow centre is paired with the etheric centre, which contains our motivational sexual force. This is different from the base centre which contains the biological sexual imperative. If we do not deal with the tangles and webs of connection with souls caused by past sexual engagement, then the brow centre becomes an instrument of our desires. We see what we want to see. We sometimes see people who are very spiritual, even known as spiritual teachers, who may say one thing, but use their position of authority for sexual gratification. This is Jezebel, the energy which distorts our vision, so we cannot look inwardly at ourselves, but only outwardly through a vision that projects our own desires upon the world.
As the processes depicted in Revelation continue, we will see the cleansing of the brow centre. This cleansing will force us into looking at how we have been using our sexual energies. The children of Jezebel, that is, our rationalisation and justification for our actions will die away. We shall learn to become honest with self, to look clearly at our motives and actions. This “clear vision” will one day achieve the purpose of the brow centre, the return of spiritual vision, the gift of the new clairvoyance.
The image
The angel of the church of Thyatira holds a star in his left hand and wears a diadem above the brow centre signifying power over the nations - that is our thoughts and mental constructs.
For today, let us practice ‘looking clearly.’ Every time we observe an opinion or judgment passing through consciousness, let us ask ourselves the question: “How does this relate to me.” If we practice this on a regular basis then we will indeed be exercising clairvoyance, for “Clairvoyance always begins with self.”
From a spiritual point of view the sxith centre [Brow] is the centre of communication, through which one can communicate with others and with the spiritual worlds. It is also the seat of the Christ mind, the intellect illumined and spiritualised. It is also the location of the third eye or the spiritual eye which will eventually be opened to Christed man so that he can perceive into the spiritual worlds, and discern the beings who dwell therein.
